I would have to say GTA (the first one) changed gaming for me. The idea that you could spend as long as you like doing what you like was a frikkin' revolution! Also, time limits on games were starting to do my head in, so the freedom of doing nothing for ages was a real breaktrough!

Just as I'm writing this, I'm starting to realise why I loved the first Zelda so much. So really, I'd have to say Zelda changed my gaming veiw, but it's just taken me about 20 years to realise this!

I'd have to say the ability to save your progress, in my early gaming years I found it so frustrating not being able to save your game, it meant leaving the machine on with the game on pause. Also if the game happened to crash you were buggered ARRGGHHHHH.

Not an influencial game in know, that one little thing changed gaming forever though.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot all about level codes for a few years there. I remember getting level codes for metroid on the NES, then realising how skipping through games makes you feel like a failure inside!!!!

For me it would have to be the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, recommended to me by a Mr KrazyFace back in 2008. Before this I hadn’t really ever played an RPG before, apart from the occasional dabbling in Pokémon games on the Game Boy, but I’m always open to new experiences, so I hopped up town (not literally haha) to buy a copy. Right from the beginning I just couldn’t believe the sheer scale of the game world, and the way it gave me the freedom to do what I wanted, when I wanted. Complete freedom like this was something I had never experienced in a game before; I was always used to the Call of Duty-esque commanders and their step-by-step instructions.

Since then RPGs have become my favourite game genre and I have enjoyed the likes of Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Persona 4 and Dragon Age: Origins; all games I would have possibly missed if I hadn’t played Oblivion, so thank you KrazyFace.

You're more than welcome Hatters, Oblivion is certianly one of the best RPGs out there, but if shooting people in the face is what's missing from most RPGs in anyones opinion, then that's what Fallout 3 is for. I know a lot of the hardcore Fallout followers will say Bethesda ruined it, but I refuse to belive that. Fallout 3 ROCKS, and I'm off to the other thread to list Fallout Vagas as one I'm most looking forward to!

Before I go though, I have to ask you (Hatters), have you heard of the two films The Book of Eli and The Road? Coz if Lord of the Rings makes you wanna play Oblivion, then these two will give you the Fallout bug all over again, BIG TIME!

I never played Fallout 1 or 2, but I can't see how they can say they ruined the series. I think that Bethesda did a great job with Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas is definitely one of my most anticipated games coming this year.

I have heard of The Book of Eli, but I haven't watched it. I'll certainly keep a look out for them both though.

Batman (it had digitised graphics and sound!)

Tobia's shareware Star Trek game (someone needs to make this for the Iphone/DS or something)

Speedball 1+2 (best sports games ever?!)

I loved my amiga, which is why I still have it in the loft. One day Im going to get it going again....

Yeah, sorry for getting the whole thread off topic there! Hahaha, Robocop! I had that for my C64 and thought I was a genius when I plugged in a mouse, shifted him up to the top of the screen and then air-walked through the first level!!!

My bubble was quickly burst though, when I realised (like a dumb ass cat stuck in a tree) that I couldn't get back down to finish off the level.

Oh, and Speedball is SO THE BEST SPORT EVER! Think I might start a campaign to make it a real sport...
